The Executive committee continue to look at several options for meeting places that can accomodate social distancing.

November 6,2020 The executive board telephone meeting was held to discuss what has been looked at and what remained to be investigated as possible meeting sites. The firehouse building on Grand Avenue looks like it may be eliminated because how much work needs to be done to the roof and interior. VFW said a flat no for temporary meeting. The building behind Terminix has pros and cons. Sylvestor suggested the Fleet Reserve building on Hwy 39 and the DAV building at Highland Park, David Sloan said the Temple Theater is still available. No firm decisions were made. Next week The Fleet reserve building and the DAV building will be looked at. There will be no meeting in November.

Possible building for Post 257

A sub committee of Peebles,Sloan,McNeal,/sylvester, Davenports met with Deputy Fire Chief on possible donation of abandoned firehouse on Grand Avenue to Post on October 28,2020.

Exterior of building in good shape. Needs new roof, needs lot of work inside. Building has potential.

Things to consider -how to pay for repairs ,taxes, utilities, insurance and maintenance.

There will no meeting in April due to the pandemic.
McNeal and Sylvester introduced changes to Post Constitution and By-Laws to the Executive Committee. By phone the Executive Committee vote YES

The changes include-electing officers yearly instead every two years, having just 4 committees, adding two members to the executive committee

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT- On March 17 Post members Sloan, Oliver Peebles, George Peebles and Sylvester worked 5 hours on a Habitat for Humanity residence designated for a disabled Veteran.The house is located at 35th street and Highland Ave.

The annual Spring Picnic is on hold due to the Pandemic
The Post has 54 paid members. 2021 dues will start in July.

The State Convention is in July.
